About this test
- Time
- 10 minutes: the speed paper (Paper I). The statements and letters paper is not practised here.
- Text
- 1,500 keystrokes at Lower, 2,250 at Higher: 30 and 45 words a minute, five keystrokes to a word.
- Marks
- Out of 100. Each mistake takes 4 off in Telugu Lower, 3 in Telugu Higher and 2 in English, and a word holds one mistake at most. Only what is typed is marked.
- Pass line
- None. The boards publish no mark needed to pass the speed paper, so the result gives marks and speed, and the board here ranks by speed.
- Editing
- Off. Backspace, Delete and the arrow keys do nothing: the exam is on a typewriter, where a wrong line stays.
- Keyboard
- English (US).

A practice test to the published rules. Not the official software, and not a certificate.
Questions
How are the marks worked out?
Out of 100, each mistake takes 4 marks off in Telugu Lower, 3 in Telugu Higher and 2 in English. A wrong, misspelt, extra or left-out word is one mistake, at most one to a word.
Why is the leaderboard ranked by speed?
The boards mark only what is typed, so a short, careful typing could score full marks. Speed counts every keystroke, so the leaderboard ranks by it and shows the marks beside.
Is this the real SBTET exam?
No. It follows the boards' published rules so you can practise to them, but it is not the exam, and it is the speed paper alone.
