The 32 letters and their names

Polish has 23 of the 26 letters of English (q, v and x turn up only in words from other languages) and nine of its own: ą, ć, ę, ł, ń, ó, ś, ź and ż. Under each letter is its Polish name, then how to say it, with the stressed syllable in capitals. Ą and ę are nasal, like the vowels of French "on" and "vin".

Typing Polish letters on a US or UK keyboard

United States-International on Windows types only ó, so it cannot finish the Polish alphabet. Add Polish (Programmers): it keeps every key where a US or UK keyboard prints it and adds the nine letters with AltGr, the right Alt: AltGr A for ą, AltGr L for ł, AltGr Z for ż and AltGr X for ź. On a Mac, add Polish Pro.

On a Polish keyboard

Windows: Polish (Programmers) · macOS: Polish Pro · Linux: Polish

Add it in Windows under Settings > Time & language > Language & region, in macOS under System Settings > Keyboard > Input Sources, in Linux under Settings > Keyboard > Input Sources.

On a US or UK keyboard

Windows: United States-International · macOS: ABC – Extended · Linux: English (US, intl., with dead keys)

Add it the same way. On US-International ' and " become dead keys: type a space after one for the mark itself.
